Hi Adebayo. As a Brit who has lived in Australia and the US I am extremely proud of our NHS. Nothing makes me more proud of where I come from.

However, the sentiments you argue have always been part of the conversation. I remember taking my son for an eye operation about twenty years ago and the surgeon telling me the NHS was on its knees. Well it's still standing as far as I can tell. Yes, it's not perfect, but we are all covered cradle to grave as you point out. Also if we lose the NHS we ALL lose, not just the white working class and such a sweeping derogatory statement to end with lessens what is otherwise an important and rightly impassioned article.
