Amidst the procession and ceremony of the Queen’s passing, one detail has held my interest: the bearing of the coffin.
Because the Queen will not be buried in the ground, her coffin must be airtight to keep out moisture and stop toxins from her body escaping into the environment. It is the lead lining that achieves this.
